Welcome to the Village of East Aurora Sinking Ponds Wildlife Sanctuary. During your visit, please enjoy your nature and/or wildlife observations and experience and we also hope you may find some peace in this beautiful natural place. While visiting and admiring please simply remember to respect all its various wildlife residents and also remember to leave no trace.

Village of East Aurora Park Hours are from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM from September 16 through May 14 and 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM from May 15 through September 15. Enjoy your visit and hope to see you sooner than later at Sinking Ponds Wildlife Sanctuary.

General Updates


Welcome to the Village of East Aurora Sinking Ponds Wildlife Sanctuary. Here are some of the most recent updates which may be of interest to you during your visit to this beautiful village nature and wildlife sanctuary:


· If you choose to take a short hike on the trails, please be careful to check yourself for ticks after you return to your vehicles. We have had instances of visitors reporting ticks after their visits.

· Please note the Village of East Aurora Leash Law is mandatory at this nature/wildlife sanctuary including the entire trail system. Lake of adherence to this law can be disrespectful to other sanctuary visitors and can be very disruptive to sanctuary wildlife. Noncompliance can be reported to the East Aurora Town Dog Controller (652-4050) during regular business hours or the East Aurora Police Department (652-1111) after business hours.

· Please feel free to use the newly added hand sanitizer at the visitor registration logbook enclosure to ensure your hands stay clean both during and after your visit.


Wildlife Observations


During your visit at this beautiful nature and wildlife sanctuary here are some of the most recent wildlife observations and encounters to date that you just may experience:


Adult and sub-adult American Bald Eagles, Red-tailed Hawk, Great Blue Heron, Kingfisher, Killdeer, Snapping Turtles, Painted Turtles, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Red-winged Blackbirds, Mergansers, Mallard Ducks, Canada Geese, Loons, Wood Duck, Common Tern, Slinking Mink, Beaver, Surf Scoters, Eastern Kingbird, Horned Grebe, Osprey, Baltimore Oriole, Horned Grebe, Solitary Sandpiper, Warbling Vireo, Pileated Woodpecker, Green Heron, Red Fox, White-tailed Deer, Eastern Kingbird
