Sinking Ponds Wildlife Sanctaury is a Village of East Aurora Park and thus the following Village of East Aurora Laws under "Chapter 177 Parks" must be abided by all visitors. Lack of adherence to any of these Village of East Aurora Park Laws may result in the contact of Village of East Aurora Police Department to resolve the violation.

The Sinking Ponds Wildlife Refuge is a Village of East Aurora owned and managed wildlife/nature sanctuary and is a Village of East Aurora Park. It is comprised of 70+ acres of village and privately owned properties and its wetlands are protected under the New York DEC 1975 Freshwater Wetlands Act Article 24. This restricts some activities in order to preserve and prrotect this wetland complex and also includes the regulated adjacent area of 100 feet which serves as a buffer area for this wetland. This wildlife/nature refuge is managed by the Village of East Aurora Department of Public Works who with the assitance of various other volunteer community organizations provide various stewardship roles and activities.

Our direction and activities at this wildlife refuge are both decided upon and approved by the Village of East Aurora Board and also the Village of East Aurora Department of Public Works. It is our mission to help support the Village of East Aurora to maintain this beautiful village nature/wildlife refuge.
Any form or watercraft are prohibited on the Eastern kettle pond area unless given consent by the Village of East Aurora Department of Public Works. Watercraft activity can disturb and be very disruptive to the various refuge wildlife who fish in various areas within the Eastern ketle pond. Please note the signage on the Eastern pond/marsh shoreline.

Dogs are allowed at Sinking Ponds Wildlife Sanctaury but under Village of East Aurora law they must be leashed at all times. Also if dog owners do observe and/or come in close promxity to wildlife they should do everything in their power to keep their dog/s as far away as possible and not dirsupt and/or harm.
Code 104-4 - Animals Running at Large
"No person owning or having charge, care or custody of any dog, whether licensed or unlicensed, shall permit such dog to be at any place in this Village except upon his or her own premises unless such dog is restrained by a substantial chain or leash not exceeding six feet in length."
Let's all please do our part to obey and adhere to this village law and also respect the wildlife as well so our canine companions can continue to keep us company while at the refuge. Lack of adherence to this village law can disrupt wildlife and also can be very direspectful to other vistors of the refuge as well. Leave no trace is extremely easy to practice and here are some simple rules to follow:
Please do not alter the natural beauty and state of this nature/wildlife sanctuary.
Leave whatever you find.
Please respect all sanctaury wildlife.
Please be considerate of all other visitors and/or nature observationists.
Whatever you pack in, please pack it out.
Use the waste recepticle if you need to dispose of any trash items.
Please do not liter in this wildlife sanctaury.
